Introduction
For Noroff's award show, The Golden Egg, a group of frontend students approached us to create its website. Following the provided brand guide by Graphic Design students, we have the creative freedom to design and implement it. Our mission is to showcase student work, while our vision is to establish the award show as a recognized event. The main goal is to enhance engagement among students and the industry, focusing on keywords like inspiration and togetherness.
Following the mobile-first principle, we designed both mobile and desktop views for the website, including a landing page, ticket sale page, payment form, confirmation message, nomination page, nomination submission form, and success message.
Brand guide
The initial foundation of our project was established through the utilization of a brand guide developed by a collective of graphic design students. This guide served as a pivotal reference point in shaping our subsequent design process.
Typography
We created a design system from what we were given by the graphic design students. We chose to add a second font to achieve better readability and overall accessibility.
Design: First draft
This is the design the graphic design students created. We were tasked to find better solutions for the site while keeping the main essence and brand identity.
Sketches
We started sketching our ideas for the redesign and what the content hierarchy should look like.
High-fidelity wireframes
I created two different versions of what the winners page could look like. I'm unsure of what the developers decided on as it hasn't been implemented yet.
Conclusion
I learned so much from working with the team of other UX students and with the graphic design and front-end students as well. Good communication is key when creating a design that is not only great for the user, but also communicates the brand identity well. It has also been very important to include the developers along the way to see what is possible to create and what good solutions we could create together.
